Naomi Lewis, MA, ATR-P, LGPC, LMHP-R, is a Resident in Counseling for Family Insight’s Manassas Location. She is in the process of becoming fully licensed in both art therapy and counseling. Her goal is to be fully licensed in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Naomi attended Adler University in Chicago, Illinois for my Master’s of Arts in Counseling and Art Therapy degree. While at Adler, her main focus was working primarily with youth experiencing trauma.
She completed her clinical practicum on Chicago’s Southside in an area experiencing community trauma due to violence and poverty. She worked with youth to help them succeed in school, improve personal interactions with peers as well as adults, and work through family interactions that were sometimes very challenging.
Upon completing her clinical practicum and subsequently obtaining her degree, She began working in a hospital in the same area of the city as my clinical experience. At the hospital, She was an art therapist in their psychiatric units (both men and women), and conducted groups in their Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
Prior to accepting her current position at Family Insight, she first began volunteering with Crisis Text Line (CTL) and began working with The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) on their chat and text message communication lines. She worked on de-escalating crises and communicating with emergency services when necessary. Crisis care was a profound experience; being right with clients in their most difficult moments allowed me to think of clients’ experiences from a unique perspective.

Dowling College, BA History
SUNY Stony Brook, Masters in Social Welfare
Started practicing in 2020.
Janet Jongebloed, LCSW, CSAC was born on Long Island, NY where she obtained a Bachelors in History, focusing on grassroots movements and the Civil Rights era. It was there she realized that the key to influencing history and creating true change in the world was to start with the individual and work up from there. Therefore, she went back to school to receive her Masters in Social Welfare from Stony Brook University in 2008. As a kid she was the weird girl who would read the DSM cover to cover and would diagnose her Barbie dolls, so mental health and psychology has always been a passion.
After moving to Richmond, Virginia she continued her career by working as a QMHP at Supportive Intervention Services for half a decade, assisting low-income neighborhoods in mental health skill building. During that time, she also obtained her CSAC and joined Therapeutic Treatment Center running therapeutic substance abuse groups. She joined Family Insight in 2020 as an Outpatient Therapist and obtained her LCSW in 2021.
In her personal time, she enjoys the dopamine kick from ticking boxes off of bucket lists, as such she’s working on visiting every single state park in Virginia, eating a meal from every country in the world and petting every cat in America (if the cats deem that okay with them, of course!). She is also a huge sci-fi and pop culture geek, prone to speak in movie quotes at random times.
She works best with individuals in a clinical setting, supporting people through traumatic stress and any behavioral or emotional struggles they may have. Her guiding principle is that at the end of the day we all have to be our own best friend because if we are going to spend every single moment of our lives with ourselves, we should make those moments enjoyable. Having to deal with negative self-talk is like living with a roommate that you don’t get along with, so let’s work to find some compromises here because it’s time to move past pain and start living again!

Derek decided to dedicate himself to working in mental health due to a desire to help others heal from trauma, ostracism, and wounds of the past. Derek also believes that everyone has a right to be authentic to their true selves and explore what that entails. Derek’s therapeutic practices derive from eastern philosophies, the belief of healing from the root of a problem, and that there is no such thing as a lost cause.
When not working, Derek enjoys story-driven games and TV, is a fan of anime and superheroes, enjoys eating the most unique thing on the menu, and runs two games of Dungeons and Dragons per week. Derek also likes incorporating clients’ passions and games into therapy, since people learn best when they connect with and enjoy the process.
