Problem Gambling and Gaming Disorder

At Family Insight, our licensed counselors have experience in providing services for problem gambling and gaming disorders. We operate from a “responsibility without blame” framework.

We’ve seen it before, there is nothing you can share with us that we have not already heard. You are NOT alone. In fact, the North American Foundation for Gambling Addiction Help reports that approximately 10 million people in the United States are struggling with a gambling problem.

Did you know that brain imaging studies show that gambling disorder pathways are the same pathways involved in substance abuse issues? (Nathan, 2014; Grant et al., 2011). Specialized treatment may be the only way to help you or your loved one stop and learn techniques to control your/their behavior.

We offer outpatient services for our patients which means, you will attend therapy at one of our facilities or via Telehealth. You may also attend group sessions and one-on-one therapy. You will continue your daily routines while attending therapy with Family Insight (i.e. school, work, or other daily activities).

Some questions for identifying if you or someone you know has a possible issue…

1. During the past 12 months, have you become restless, irritable or anxious when trying to stop/cut down on gambling?

2. During the past 12 months, have you tried to keep your family or friends from knowing how much you gambled?

3. During the past 12 months, did you have such financial trouble that you had to get help from family or friends?

When you come to Family Insight, we will support you as you set money and time limits, and help you spend time on other recreational activities.
